The U.S. Brig Niagara returned on July 2nd after a year away in Maine for a midlife refit.
The Niagara is currently undergoing final preparation work ahead of her routine U.S. Coast Guard inspection.
To ensure a safe experience for our visitors, onboard tours are temporarily paused until this inspection is complete.

The Erie Maritime Museum is beginning a $2.1 million Capital Renovation Project that will involve upgrading the building’s HVAC system. Due to this, the West Wing Gallery will be closed until further notice as part of the renovation.
To keep our most sensitive artifacts safe from construction dust as well as temperature and humidity fluctuations, our curators have temporarily moved about 50 items—including our iconic Battle of Lake Erie painting—into secure, climate-controlled storage.
Because our galleries look a little different right now, we are excited to offer "Pay As You Wish" admission through December 2026!
We invite you to come down, see the remaining exhibits, view the Niagara, and enjoy the waterfront for whatever donation amount you choose. Thank you for your patience as we improve your museum!
Erie Maritime Museum will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday. We will reopen Saturday, the 28th.
