For this edition of Boats, Ships, and Us, we're travelling to Wilmington, Delaware to talk about a different kind of Tall Ship - the Kalmar Nyckel. We are joined by Sam Heed, Senior Historian and Director of Education at the Kalmar Nyckel Foundation. The current vessel, which sails out of Delaware, plays homage to a 17th century Dutch-built pinnace known for crossing the Atlantic, establishing the Swedish colony of New Sweden on the lower reaches of the Delaware River.
This talk will be hosted on Zoom and moderated by Erie Maritime Museum Educator, Charles Johnson. Space is limited, registration is required. For questions, please contact chajohnso@pa.gov.
